Dyson DC31 Animal Handheld Vacuum Cleaners are ideal for someone who…
Wants a powerful handheld vacuum cleaner that is easy to use
Wants a quick way to clean pet hair off furniture and upholstery
Does not want to deal with replacement filters or bags

    Pluses:

    Impressive suction power
Surprisingly easy to handle with a well balanced weight distribution
Attachment tools are very easy to put on or take off and all securely snap into place
Motorhead attachment is great for cleaning couches, chairs, stairs and the car
Dust bin holds a decent amount of dirt and is easy to empty with just a push of a button
Washable filters paired with the dust bin means no money spent on replacement parts
LED battery indicator lets you know when the battery is fully charged or running low
    Minuses:

    It is noisy
Short run time; though a 10 minute run time is an improvement, it still is not a long time
Takes 3 hrs to recharge fully; though that time is shorter than other handhelds on the market, it still is a long time to wait for only 6-10 minutes of use
    Summary:

I have used the Dyson Hand Held Vacuum cleaner now for two years, and much to my surprise, since I abhor the Dyson infomercials, this product actually lives up to its hype.

The first thing that strikes you is its strange shape and you would naturally assume it is very heavy, but in fact, the design makes it lighter than most since all the weight seems to be at its tip and not in my hand. This means from a practical point of view, I am able to continue vacuuming for a bit longer before giving up because of hand fatigue. I fully charge the vacuum before using it and a couple of times it has run out of its charge when using it, but mostly I can accomplish what needs to be done in the nick of time.

There are two areas where I think this vacuum shines. The first is the removal of pet hair and in my case, cat hair. This little machine does an awesome job and has a big enough dirt receptacle to not fill up before the job is done – but do not think you could vacuum up after your St Bernard – it is not big enough for that! The other area is that dreadful task of cleaning out the interior of your car, which I have to do regularly after many trips to the local nursery to stock up with plants for the garden. Again, this handheld vacuum is actually strong enough for the job and I have never found another handheld even remotely good enough. Some auxiliary tools help for crevices. Dirt disposal is easy enough. If there was one gripe I had it would be the price. I know it is better than the competition but if it was just a bit lower in price I would be even happier. Even so, I do recommend it to my friends who ask about that strange looking appliance charging up in my kitchen. (by Mercia Tapping CEO/President)
