While animals as a part of the family seems to be able to shed their once his hair is a curse to the person responsible for cleaning the apartment. Even with frequent vacuuming pet hair tends to solidify into carpet fibers. It can be difficult to remove.

There are a few different ways to remove pet hair, a little easier than others. A common method is with rubber gloves and rubbed them on the carpet. The hair is attracted to the rubber gloves and discarded in a trash can. This method can be tiring, especially when used for large areas.

A simpler method uses a clean sponge mop. vacuum <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/floor"title="floor" >floor to remove loose pet hair (we recommend the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser). Spray a small amount of water with sponge, mop or run on carpet. This causes pet hair to clump, where it can easily be picked up for disposal.

For those removing the animal hairs, because in a few steps as possible, rather, there is another method. Mix a solution with three parts water and one part fabric softener. Moisten the <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/carpet-cleaning/"title="carpet cleaning" >carpet with the solution. Allow carpet to dry, then just vacuum away pet hair. The solution helps break static, often, what attracts the pet hair on the carpet. Make sure you spot test the solution in an inconspicuous place before all on the carpet.

A similar method uses baking powder and has the added benefit of deodorizing the room as you clean. Simple baking soda sprinkled carpet. To leave for a few minutes, then sit vacuum as usual. Baking powder coats the carpet fibers and hair, so they can easily be separated from each other when aspirated.

If none of these methods work and the carpet is a specialty, then professional carpet cleaning is necessary to completely remove pet hair.

Maintaining carpet through regular vacuuming, deep cleaning, and stain removal has many benefits:
Extending the life of the carpet (ground in soil particles weaken carpet fibers)
Providing a fresh, clean look to a room
Making a room smell better
Helping allergy and asthma sufferers by removing germs and <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/dust/"title="dust" >dust
NOTE: Carpet runners and mats help prevent soil from being tracked inside. Pads under desk chairs can prevent ground-in soil.

Vacuuming
Dirt and grit damage carpet by rubbing against carpet fibers. Carpet sweepers and rakes can remove surface dirt, but regular vacuuming (as often as possible-some manufacturers recommend one day per week per person in the household) prevents the deep abrasion that ruins carpet. Remember to empty the vacuum or change the disposable <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/vacuum-cleaner-bag/"title="vacuum cleaner bag" >bags often.

Choose a vacuum with:
Dual motors (one motor provides suction while the other powers a beater bar that loosens dirt)
Good <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/filtration"title="filtration" >filtration
Correct <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/brush"title="brush" >brush height adjustment for your type of <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/carpet-cleaning/"title="carpet cleaning" >carpet
A beater bar or rotating brush which loosens the dirt and grit better than a canister vacuum
A top-loading bag instead of a bottom-loading bag
NOTE: Vacuum brushes can damage some thick loop pile carpets (such as Berbers). Follow the carpet manufacturer’s recommendations or use a suction-only vacuum for these carpets.

TIP: Sprinkling salt an hour before vacuuming brightens carpet.

TIP: Hold a steam iron over flattened carpet to pull the fiber up. Be sure not to touch the carpet with the iron.

TIP: Allow an ice cube to melt in indentations left by furniture for the carpet fibers to rise again.

Deep Cleaning
Carpet should be deep cleaned with hot water extraction (steam cleaning) every 12 to 24 months. Steam cleaning involves spraying a high-pressure solution of water and detergent and vacuuming the dirty solution. Refer to the manufacturer’s warranty for the recommended deep cleaning method.

Many grocery stores and rental stores, rent steam cleaning equipment. You may also purchase deep cleaning equipment. If you choose to have a professional clean your carpet, do your homework:

Determine what services you want (i.e. stair cleaning, furniture moving, special treatments such as stain proofing, etc.)

Ask for recommendations from friends and family
Look for membership in Carpet Cleaners Institute of the Northwest (CCINW) or The Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration (ASCR)
Consult the Better Business Bureau or local consumer protection office for complaints
Check for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICR)
Ask how long they have been in business and contact references
Make sure they are insured for liability and carry workers’ compensation insurance
Beware of unrealistic claims (particularly in advertisements and coupons)
Make sure they follow the correct procedure for cleaning carpet:

Vacuuming
Adding detergent and conditioners
Brushing the detergents in
Hot water extraction

Drying
Check for written guarantees and conditions
Compare prices that seem realistic ($40 per room is average)
Pay by check or credit card as a record

Before the cleaner arrives, make sure to clean up and vacuum the carpet. Hide all valuables and make sure that nothing is hanging over the carpet (e.g. curtains). When the cleaner arrives, point out stains and describe all of the past carpet cleanings. Make sure to review the written guarantee and service agreement. Amend the service agreement if needed.

After the cleaning:
Inspect the carpet
Ask about drying instructions (i.e. expected time and ventilation requirements)
Make sure not to cover the carpet until it dries
Keep moisture shields or carpet protectors under all furniture until the carpet dries
Vacuum the carpet when it dries
Call the cleaner if the carpet is still damp or any spots remain after 24 hours.
Click here to find a carpet cleaner in your area.

Stain Removal
There are many commercial products such as Quick 10, 409 Carpet, spot removal kits, and dry cleaning fluids. In addition, many fiber manufacturers provide toll-free telephone help for stains (consult your warranty). Since stains can be better cleaned right after they happen, if you do not have one of these commercial products consider using a homemade solution:

Club soda
Nail polish remover made of Amyl Acetate (do not use polish remover on acetate fiber)
1 cup of lukewarm water and 1/4 teaspoon of mild liquid laundry detergent (non-bleach and non-lanolin such as Woolite)
2 tablespoons household ammonia and 1 cup water (apply the ammonia solution before the vinegar solution)
1 cup white vinegar and 2 cups water (apply the ammonia solution before the vinegar solution)

NOTE: Test all cleaning solutions in an inconspicuous area.

Pick a cleaning solution and follow these steps:
Remove excess wet stains by blotting with a clean absorbent cloth (use a wet/dry vacuum for large stains) and dry stains by scraping with a dull edge. Always blot or sponge stains, scrubbing can spread stains and damage carpet fibers.
Apply cleaning solution to a clean absorbent cloth or paper towel. Do not soak the carpet. Working from the edges of the stain (to prevent spreading), blot until no more stain is absorbed. If necessary, use your fingertips to work the solution to the base of the stain. Always blot or sponge stains, scrubbing can spread stains and damage carpet fibers.
Wait 3 minutes for the solution to work
Apply clean water to another cloth or paper towel. Blot to remove any residue.
Carpet fibers may later absorb deep stains. More cleaning may be necessary.
Allow the carpet to dry (or use a towel or a hair-dryer at medium setting), vacuum or brush the carpet to restore its texture.
Contact a professional cleaner if the stain cannot be cleaned

Other cleaning tips:
Sponge red wine stains with club soda or white wine.
Club soda works on most stains.
Absorb grease with cornmeal or baking soda. Leave overnight and vacuum.
On a high pile carpet, shave off burn marks.

There are two basic types of consumer vacuums on the market, and both have advantages and disadvantages. But there are some misleading ads on the commercials and advertisements that they run. We are going to attempt to break them down and expose the tricks that lead you to believe that their machine is a superior product. Some of these machines cost thousands of dollars and are no better than a 70 dollar machine from your local store.
I am probably going to hurt some pride and feelings by the time you finish reading this, but the truth needs to come forward.
The first thing we need to do is cover the two basic designs. We will start with the upright cleaner.
The upright is the most popular designs and the biggest seller. It is generally lighter and much easier to maneuver around because you only have an electric cord to drag around the home and furniture and only takes up a small amount of space to store.
That was the advantages of an upright. This machine has a history of having much less suction by design. The motor is usually in the head or area close to the suction port.
The dirt and debris is basically sucked right through the impeller or suction fan. As time goes on the debris wears the impeller out and you get a loss of suction from this. Plus the debris is being pushed into the storage area, as the <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/vacuum-cleaner-bag/"title="vacuum cleaner bag" >bag or storage area gets full or clogged up you lose even more power.
There should always be notches or vents on the intake of a <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/carpet-cleaning/"title="carpet cleaning" >carpet cleaning machine to vent air in. The reason is that if there is a complete seal, the motor strains and causes a complete vacuum. Is this complete vacuum nothing gets sucked up. Try this little trick. With the want or hose of your vacuum place a penny on the <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/floor"title="floor" >floor or carpet, place the end of the hose directly over it with the entire surface flush against the floor over the penny and turn the power on. It will not lift the penny. Now cant the wand or hose to allow a small amount of air in and it will suck the penny right up. Understand?
The next basic design is the canister. With equal horse power this is the more powerful machine. It does however have some issues also. It is bulky, not as easy to store and you have electric cords and hoses to drag around. They are generally heavier than uprights.
The motor placement is in the canister and is usually on the back of the bag or debris bin so you do not have to worry about the impeller being destroyed. It should last a long time.
The main pitfall as far as performance goes is that it sucks the debris into the bag or bin and once it starts getting full your power starts to decrease. I recommend bags and replacing them once 1 quarter full. This will keep it at optimum power. This also applies to uprights with bags.
Carpet machines that use water to trap dirt and debris is a waste of money in my opinion. They claim that the debris and dirt hits the water and is trapped. So this brings me to a question. Have you ever seen a dust cloud blow over the top of a small body of water?
The heavy debris will get trapped in the water but the lighter dust will go right out the exhaust port and right back into the room.
Most stains are easily removed, if some rules are respected:

In general, carpets regularly with a vacuum cleaner with soft <a href="http://www.bestvac.net/tag/brush"title="brush" >brush removed.
Heavily soiled carpets need a deep cleaning with a commercially available or suitable carpet foam carpet cleaning powder.
Old Oriental rugs and carpets must be treated very gently.
For cleaning large carpet areas, it is advisable to contact a professional.
Not very valuable carpets can be used with a clean soapy water. Then they are with clear vinegar transferees wash out water and dry it.
Some cotton rug types can be easily washed. The others should be periodically shampooed or cleaned with a powder to be treated.
Carpets with goat hair back may not yet washed with the carpet beater treated, they are only brush clean.
For Longhair and leather carpet recommend this to a smooth, soft surface, and with a carpet beater knocked.
If the carpets with a vacuum cleaner to be cleaned, then the lowest suction set. For gentle treatment, and they can be reversed with a vacuum cleaner on the bottom are absaugt
Sheep or goat skins are available daily with a hand brush or vacuum cleaner to clean.
Not washable skins are too shampooing, without too much dampen.
