  • Upright Dust Busting for the Geek Family

Posted on May 29th, 2010 VacMan No comments

After trying out a Roomba (the low level robot hoover) a few months ago I’ve been on the look out for other cleaning solutions to tickle my “Dad about home” gadget needs.

In a break from my game reviews this week I stumbled acorss the Electrolux Unirapido. Having long been a fan of the Dustbuster mini-hoover idea, the sound of a chordless upright version sounded great to me.

It wasn’t in the house but a few minutes though and my wife’s ears pricked up and she came in to see what the strange vacuuming noise was. To cut a long story short, she loved it and now three friends have one too.

She writes the odd family game reivew, so I thought I’d get her to write her thoughts on the pro’s and con’s of the Unirapido for you
Here we have a [vacuum] that not only looks great but makes cleaning easier – meaning more time for games. The Electrolux Unirapido is a really nifty little vacuum cleaner, much more than just glorified dust buster. It is really good looking too in hot pink and white. The real joy is that it is cordless meaning you can just grab it deal with a small mess or do a more thorough room clean. The charge lasts long enough to do one level of my house (3 bedrooms bathroom and landing) which is pretty impressive for a dust buster! It’s really light an easy to manoeuvre and the small head means its great for getting into tight corners. Read the rest of this entry »

  • Electrolux Upright Vacuum Cleaners For The Ultra Richs

We’ve seen Swarovski crystal cell phones, diamond mp3 players and pimped cars but this is the first bling vacuum cleaner that we’ve come across.
The Electrolux upright vacuum cleaner was created by Polish fashion designer Lukaz Jemiol and is said to be a one off design. The unit itself is covered in 3730 Swarovski crystals and is valued at $19,400.

According to the Guinness Book Of World Records, this upright is the world’s most expensive vacuum cleaner.
An Electrolux spokesperson did indicate that this was a one off design but that they “could arrange to have another one made to order if anyone desired”. It just goes to show that the ultra rich can have a pimped out vacuum cleaner to clean carpets with, but then again, if you’re that rich, wouldn’t you have maid service

  • Asus Robotic Vacuum Cleaner Features

Step aside LG RoboKing, Neato Robotic vacuum and the Electrolux silent vacuum, there’s a new player in town. It’s quite a change for the computer maker that is better known for their Eee netbooks and their new educational robot, but Asus wants a piece of the home cleaning market and is releasing their own robotic vacuum.
The Asus vacuum which is shaped like Roomba is called ECleaner. This robotic vacuum includes a couple of neat features such as a 6000-hour UV light to disinfect floors and a built in fragrance dispenser. There’s even a remote control for this battery powered unit.
Although there are not a lot of details, it appears that ECleaner has a couple of preset cleaning patterns as well as a photo sensor so that it avoids falling down stairs. There really isn’t any new innovation in this vacuum cleaner design, but what’s nice about it is that it is competitively priced at $150

  • Silent Vacuum Cleaner With iPod Dock Makes Cleaning Fun

Posted on May 29th, 2010 VacMan No comments

When Electrolux came up with the Silence Amplified, the “most silent vacuum cleaner ever made”, it decided to do something useful with all that extra quietness (the machine operates at just 68dB) that it had left in its wake: Fill it with music. And because today, “music” means “iPod”, Electrolux put in an iPod dock and integrated speakers. Read the rest of this entry »
